Bobcats Turn In Strong Performance at ASU PDF Print

Nazaire Saintine (Douglasville, Ga.) nearly equaled his own school record in the high jump on Friday at Appalachian State University's Pre-Conference Meet, posting a mark of 2.01 meters to finish third. Richard Lane (Concord, N.C.) placed fifth in the competition with a mark of 1.86 meters, as

Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) and Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) finished second and third, respectively, in the pole vault with identical marks of 4.46 meters. Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) finished third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03 seconds, followed closely by Lane's fifth-place mark of 8.32 ticks.
Christopher Dye (Gastonia, N.C.) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.30 seconds, as Williams finished sixth with a mark of 23.35 ticks. Travis Burton (Newberry, S.C.) came in eighth with a mark of 23.66 seconds, as Kendell Davis (Douglasville, Ga.) placed ninth with a time of 24.24. Burton also finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.44 seconds, as Dye and Josh Oliver (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) placed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 55-meter dash.
Lees-McRae returns to action in the first meet of the outdoor season on Friday, March 3 when the Bobcats travel to Hickory, N.C. to take part in Lenoir-Rhyne University's Power Sox Invitational.

 


Curry, Cleveland Pace Bobcats at Pre-Conference Meet

 

Sophomore Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) and freshman Rachelle Cleveland (Moyock, N.C.) each established a new school record to lead the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team to a strong performance at Appalachian State University's Pre-Conference Meet on Friday.
Curry finished second in the high jump with a program-record mark of 1.63 meters, as Persephanie Mcrae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed sixth with a jump of 1.53 meters. Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) placed third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.93 seconds, as Iesha Poindexter (Jetterville, Va.) and Jessica McEnaney (Cary, N.C.) finished fourth and ninth in the 55-meter dash, respectively.
McEnaney also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 28.02 seconds, as Poindexter and Auburn Lowe (Swain County, N.C.) came in seventh and eighth, respectively. Casey Clark (Roanoke, Va.) finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.22, as Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) placed ninth.
Cleveland finished sixth in the shot put, posting a school-record mark of 11.20 meters, as Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.) placed ninth with a throw of 9.95 meters. Cook also finished ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.27 meters, as Genay Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) placed 10th.
