Boone Police have charged a Lenoir man in that Saturday morning assault of two women, followed from the lot of the Cook Out restaurant on Blowing Rock Road. In what the police release call  “a notable assault incident,” Ketoine Jamahl Mitchell, 19 of Lenoir, came to Boone Police voluntarily and was charged with two counts of Assault on a Female, one count of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Mitchell gave a statement admitting his involvement in the assault of two females near Brown Heights Apartments early last Saturday morning.  In addition to the assault related charges, Mitchell was found to be wanted out of Caldwell County and was served with two charges of felony Larceny from the Person.  Mitchell was booked into the Watauga County Detention Center under a $6,000 secured bond and was assigned an April 17th court date. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault—some calling for hate crime status— is continuing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
