Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are seeking information regarding the fire yesterday at the old Watauga High School. The Crimestoppers bulletin says that a witness reported seeing a white Subaru Outback with Virginia license tag in the area between 2 and 3PM, also reported that there were two white males in their thirties who were looking around the property and into the windows of the school. Anyone with any information about this incident or this vehicle is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 828-268-6959 or Watauga County Sheriff’s Office at 828-264-3761. The three-alarm fire was called in at the Old Watauga High just after 4:30 yesterday afternoon, with Blowing Rock and Foscoe Firefighters joining Boone on the scene.  Smoke was pouring from the cafeteria and gym side of the building when first units arrived, and after the initial knock-down of the fire, teams began a search of the building to find if anyone was inside.  Witnesses on the scene said that the building had suffered a lot of damage from vandalism since being decommissioned as a school over the past two years. Sheriff Len Hagaman added that the interior of the old Watauga County High School is very dangerous and unsafe. Anyone found inside the building will be subject to arrest.
