The political season starts for real today, with the filings starting at noon. With that, the High Country will be on the agenda of many candidates, such as North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Linda McGee, who announced yesterday that she will speak at the Democratic Women’s Club luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Community Room of the Watauga County Library. Then she will host a fundraiser for her reelection campaign at Char Restaurant on Thursday, Feb. 23. Both events are open to the public. Judge McGee practiced law in Boone for some 17 years with the firm of DiSanti, Watson and McGee before being appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1995. She was elected to an eight-year term on the court in 1996 and re-elected in 2004. She is now the second most senior judge on the Court of Appeals and the longest-serving woman judge in the court’s history.
