Culler, Brinkley Earn Academic, All-District Honors PDF Print

Lenoir-Rhyne's Whitley Culler and Whitney Brinkley have both been named to the 2011-12 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District III Team for NCAA Division II Women's Basketball. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors

of America. Culler, a junior guard from Mount Airy, N.C., is currently second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game to go along with a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per outing.
Culler is in her second consecutive year starting for Lenoir-Rhyne and has been a part of two league regular season championship squads and two teams who have earned berths in the NCAA Division II Playoffs (2008-09 and 2009-10).
Culler currently sports a 3.70 grade point average and is majoring in health and exercise science while minoring in psychology.
Brinkley, a sophomore forward from Asheville, N.C., is currently fourth on the team in scoring this season at 6.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per outing.
Last year, Brinkley earned SAC All-Freshman Team accolades after finishing second on the squad in scoring (9.0 ppg) while shooting a team-best 47.8 percent. Brinkley has a 3.87 grade point average.
Both players are members of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and have led Lenoir-Rhyne to a 16-6 mark this season including an 8-5 record in league play. Both players are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Carson-Newman in a conference game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

LRU Women's Basketball To Host Alumni Day Saturday

 


The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Team will host its annual Alumni Day this Saturday at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The alumni game will take place at 11:00 a.m., and will be followed by lunch immediately after the contest.
All alumni who are present will be recognized at halftime of Lenoir-Rhyne's home game against South Atlantic Conference-rival Carson-Newman. The contest is scheduled to tip at 4:00 p.m.
