Elon’s Ali Ford has been named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played January 31 – February 6, the league office announced today. The junior averaged 22.5 points per game
in Elon’s two wins this past week. Ford led the Phoenix to a 76-58 win scoring a game-high 26 points against Furman in the annual Play4Kay game. The 5-foot-3 guard dished out three assists and had three rebounds.
Ford turned around to score 19 points in Monday night’s 69-50 road win at UNCG. Ford made nine three-pointers in two games.
The Morganton, N.C. native moved into fifth all-time in program history in scoring and now sits at 1,420 career points.
Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Anna Freeman, Davidson’s Laura Murray, Furman’s Brittany Hodges, UNCG’s Natalie Headley, Samford’s Paige Anderson, Chattanooga’s Kayla Christopher, Western Carolina’s Kalia’Shea Menendez and Wofford’s Daniella Motley.
