Appalachian State University women's basketball player Courtney Freeman has been named as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday
Freeman, who helped lead the Mountaineers to

two wins last week, notched her fifth-career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while notching three steals in Saturday's win over Furman.
She followed up that performance with six points, six rebounds and two steals in Monday's win over Western Carolina to help the Apps extend their winning streak to five games.
Freeman currently ranks second on the team and third in the SoCon in scoring (12.1 ppg) and has posted double-digit point totals in 11 games this season.
A healthcare management major with a minor in business, Freeman maintains an impressive 3.77 grade-point average. She joins fellow Mountaineers Nathan Healy (Men's Basketball), Maggie Seeds (Volleyball) and Sarah Williamson (Women's Track and Field) as the four Appalachian student-athletes to win the award this season.
Freeman and the Mountaineers return to SoCon play this weekend with road games at Georgia Southern (Feb. 4) and College of Charleston (Feb. 6) before returning home against Wofford (Feb. 8).
