Well, it's not official just yet, but Watauga High senior Kendyl Baird will make it official Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. in the WHS Media Center, when she signs her National Letter of Intent with King College, a Division II school in Bristol, TN, and a member of Conference Carolinas. Baird scored

14 goals (she was second on the team in that category) and had a team-leading six assists for the Pioneers last spring. The Pioneers (12-6-1) finished in a second-place tie with Hickory in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference last season. WHS lost to Mallard Creek in the opening-round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
"I am so excited for Kendyl," said WHS coach Brittany Bolick, who is about to begin her second year as head coach of the Pioneers. "She is a very skilled player, and a nice fit for the program she going to play for at King College. I always encourage our girls to play at the next level. Now, not everyone can do it. But Kendyl definitely can, and she will do just fine."
Baird will join a King College program that was 8-8-1 last season, and 7-4-1 in Conference Carolinas.
