Griewisch Wins 5,000 At Niswonger Invitational PDF Print

Lenoir-Rhyne senior Kate Griewisch (Banner, Elk, N.C.) ran a 17:04 to finish first out of 53 runners in the women's 5,000-meter run at the Niswonger Indoor Track and Field Invitational at the Memorial Center on the campus of East Tennessee State University. Griewisch, a 2011 NCAA Division II All-American in

women's outdoor track and field, finished 28 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
Freshman Hanna Ramirez (Charlotte, N.C.) placed 29th in the women's one-mile run with a time of 5:49 and 32nd in the 800-meter run (2:36) while sophomore Taylor Oliver (Toms River, N.J.) also finished 29th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.58 seconds) for the Bears.
In addition, L-R redshirt freshman AnQuinette Crawford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed 37th in the women's 60-meter dash (8.82 seconds) and sophomore Kate Coleman (Spring Arbor, Mich.) was 42nd overall in the women's 400-meter dash (1:06.71).
On the men's side for Lenoir-Rhyne, junior Caleb Kingery (Roanoke, Va.) finished 17th in the 800-meter invitational run (2:03.58) while senior James Pone ran 7.08 seconds in the 60-meter dash, good for 23rd overall.
Finally, Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Daryel Morris (Rome, Ga.) placed 26th in the 400-meter dash (51.86 seconds) and senior Jakob Maidens (Lebanon, Va.) was 31st in the one-mile with a time of 4:46.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams next compete in the Fast Track Invitational on Saturday, February 11, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

 

LRU Women's Swimming Sweeps On Senior Day

 

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team defeated Warren Wilson (82-12) and Catawba (48-47) Saturday afternoon on the Senior Day in a tri-meet at the Shuford Physical Education Center. 
On the women's side as well, Catawba defeated by Warren Wilson by 68-26 score.
For the men, Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Warren Wilson, 82-12, but fell to Catawba (72-23).  Catawba's men team upended Warren Wilson, 83-8.
In the combined team scores, Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Warren Wilson (164-24) while Catawba beat both Warren Wilson (151-34) and L-R (119-71).
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Chelsea Kyle (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior Megan Neubauer (Taylors, S.C.) both won two individual women's events.
Kyle finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.64) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.42) while Neubauer won the 400-yard individual medley (4:59.19) and 500-yard freestyle (5:30.65).
Senior Lindsay Atkin (Hickory, N.C.) also placed first for the Bears with a 1:09.13 in the women's 100-yard breaststroke.
On the men's side, freshman Kyle Hites (Lenoir, N.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.19.  The L-R men's team also set a school record in the 400-yard medley relay (3:38.46).
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming Teams next compete in the 2012 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship on February 15-18 in Charlotte, N.C.
