Watauga, Ashe Crashes Cause Injuries PDF Print

A driver was hurt in a crash just after noon today on US 321 approaching Boone.  The 12:25pm crash occurred when driver Bruce Burns, 55, of Valdese, blacked out and his 2007 Honda ran off of the road and slammed into a fire hydrant and into a large rock.  Airbags deployed in the car, and Burns was treated at the scene, but refused transport to Watauga Medical Center.

The state patrol cited Bruce Burns for a lane control violation.

There was another injury in a 10:30am accident in Ashe County when a vehicle struck a utility pole on Big Flatts Church Road, with one person from the car out of the vehicle, another still inside when emergency units arrived on the scene.  The State Patrol said that alcohol was involved, and that in that accident, as well, one was transported after EMS arrived on the scene.
