During his first Board of Education meeting since Dr. Marty Hemrick’s leaving, interim superintendent Dr. Dick Jones reported he had already visited all the schools, reacquainted himself with many staff, met many new staff members, familiarized himself with the high school facility needs, and had to make the decision to close school due to snow. This would be called “hitting the ground running”. Dr. Jones looked comfortable and confident as he once again sat in the seat designated, Superintendent, at the Board of Education meeting. During the meeting he, characteristically, demonstrated his understanding of the complexities of running a school system and showed his trade mark since of humor. During an interview following the meeting he expressed his thoughts on transitioning back into the superintendent’s role, "It's been a very interesting transition back after all these years. I have reacquainted myself with some of the greatest professional educators I've ever been with." He talked about budget challenges with that process soon underway, and said he's also focused on the new high school facility.  Even though he appeared to enjoy being back as superintendent he made it clear that his role was to make sure the school system was in good shape for the person the Board of Education will employ and have in place this summer, saying "I want to make sure we finish this year strong and get it ready for the new person."  Jones' employment is set to end at the current school and fiscal year, June 30th.
