Appalachian State men's soccer player Ryan Duffy (Apex, N.C./Apex) has been named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2011 University Division Men's Scholar

All-South Region Honorable Mention player.
Duffy, a senior studying pre-professional biology with a minor in chemistry, maintained a 3.54 grade point average while serving as team captain last season. He was a critical component of a Mountaineer back line that earned shutouts in 11 contests and held its opponents to only 12 goals in 19 games total. Duffy's honors add to his previous selections as CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District III Division I first team and academic all-Southern Conference.
Duffy was one of nine SoCon student-athletes to earn recognition as scholar all-South Region.
