Vols to host Florida, Alabama, Missouri among slate of seven home games
The University of Tennessee announced the football schedule for the 2012 season, with the Vols slated

to host seven games at Neyland Stadium next fall.
The slate of conference home games includes visits from Florida (Sept. 15), Alabama (Oct. 20), Missouri (Nov. 10), and Kentucky (Nov. 24), while Tennessee plays on the road against Southeastern Conference opponents Georgia (Sept. 29), Mississippi State (Oct. 13), South Carolina (Oct. 27) and Vanderbilt (Nov. 17).  The three non-conference opponents the Vols will host at Neyland Stadium in 2012 include Georgia State (Sept. 8), Akron (Sept. 22) and Troy (Nov. 3).
The Vols begin the 2012 regular season against North Carolina State of the Atlantic Coast Conference at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 1 in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff Game, televised on ESPN.  Tennessee then has three consecutive home games, as the Vols will play non-conference opponent Georgia State (Sept. 8), SEC East rival Florida (Sept. 15) and Akron from the Mid-American Conference (Sept. 22) before the first road test for UT on Sept. 29, a trip to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs.
Following an open week, the Vols will visit Mississippi State on Oct. 13, the first trip to Starkville for Tennessee since 2007.  The following week, the Vols will play the other SEC West opponent on their 2012 schedule by hosting Alabama on Oct. 20.  Tennessee next travels to Columbia, S.C. to play South Carolina on Oct. 27, followed by a game against Troy of the Sun Belt Conference on Nov. 3 in Knoxville.
The addition of the University of Missouri to the SEC increases the number of games against SEC East opponents on the Tennessee schedule to six, and the Nov. 10 game at Neyland Stadium represents the first-ever game between the Vols and Tigers.  The final regular season road game for Tennessee is on Nov. 17 at Vanderbilt, followed by the regular-season finale and final 2012 home game at Neyland Stadium on Nov. 24 against Kentucky.
In addition to the first meeting against Missouri, the Vols will also play against Georgia State and Troy for the first time in school history.  The Vols are playing North Carolina State for the third time and the first since a Tennessee win in 1939 (UT lost to the Wolfpack in the first meeting 101 years ago in 1911).  Tennessee won the only previous meeting with Akron in 1989, a 52-9 victory in Knoxville.
Information regarding game times and television broadcast information is typically released two weeks before each individual game.  Additionally, information regarding season and individual-game tickets will be released later in the spring.
