Appalachian State saw 34 student-athletes named to the Southern Conference 2011

 Fall Academic all-conference team, the league office announced on Thursday.
The Mountaineers finished at the top of the SoCon along with Elon in the total number of student-athletes named to the list.
In order to be eligible for academic all-conference consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a grade-point average of 3.3, play in at least 50 percent of their team's games and have completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
As a group, the 297 student-athletes that comprised the list combined to earn 3.63 GPA. The Fall Academic all-SoCon team is comprised of athletes competing in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball.
