Pioneers Lead Wells Fargo Cup Standings PDF Print

The Watauga High athletic teams turned in a solid fall sports season, and the Pioneers were rewarded by leading the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference with

80 points in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup standings.
The Pioneers produced three league championships during the fall season in men's and women's cross country and in volleyball. The men's soccer, women's golf, and the football teams all produced second-place finishes. Alexander Central is a distant second with 64.5 points.
Hickory and South Caldwell are tied for third with 60 points each. Hickory produced league titles in men's soccer and women's tennis; South Caldwell won the conference title in football---it's first league championship in football since 1994.
Ashe County finds itself in second place in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference. The Huskies have 44 points, and they trail Wilkes Central, which leads the conference standings with 46.5 points.
The Huskies produced one championship in the fall in women's cross country. Avery is in fourth place in the Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference with 63 points.
