The American Football Coaches Association has tabbed Appalachian State University wide receiver Brian Quick (Columbia, S.C./Ridge View) as an NCAA Division I FCS all-American, the AFCA announced

on Wednesday.
AFCA all-America honors are among college football’s most prestigious because only 25 players — all first-teamers — receive the recognition on each of the organization’s five all-America squads — NCAA Division I FBS, Division I FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA. All of the teams are voted on exclusively by college football coaches.
As a senior, Quick ranked among the nation’s leaders with 71 receptions for 1.096 yards and 11 touchdowns, good for fourth in Appalachian history in each category. His 1,000-yard season was the just the fifth ever by a Mountaineer receiver while his seven 100-yard receiving performances in 12 games tied an ASU record.
In the process, the 6-5, 220-pound NFL prospect also became the school’s all-time career leader with 202 receptions, 3,418 yards and 31 touchdown catches.
With the recognition, Quick closes his illustrious career as the 28th multi-year all-American in Appalachian history. As a junior, he received first-team honors from College Sporting News and second-team accolades from Phil Steele College Football publications. He is one of 81 Mountaineer all-Americans overall, dating back to 1937.
Additional all-America squads, including those from the Associated Press, The Sports Network and the Walter Camp Football Foundation will be announced in the coming weeks.
