Appalachian State women's basketball passed its first Southern Conference road test of the season with an

82-46 thrashing of Western Carolina on Monday night. Here's a look at the latest bits of news and notes on the Mountaineers:

Freeman Nears 1,000
• Junior forward Anna Freeman needs just 67 more points to become the 21st player in ASU history to reach 1,000 for her career.
• She is averaging a team-best 15.7 points per game, a scoring mark that has her ranked second in the SoCon.
• In addition to nearing a career-scoring milestone, Freeman was named as the SoCon Women's Basketball Player of the Week yesterday, her second such honor of the season.
• She also currently ranks second in blocks (153), fifth in steals (201) and 13th in rebounds (564) in Appalachian State history.

Edwards Moves Up
• Senior Canesha Edwards has continued her ascent up the career-rebounding list at ASU. Edwards currently ranks 15th with 544 career rebounds.
• She is also just eight steals away from moving into a tie for 10th in Appalachian State history with 142 career steals. Edwards currently has 134 in her career and has had 45 or more steals in two of her first three seasons.

Block Party
• Senior forward Catherine Williams has gotten in on the block party at Appalachian. She has recorded 78 career blocks, good for sixth all-time at ASU.

Record-Setting Pace
• Both Anna Freeman and Chakeitha Weldon are on pace to set the top two single-season free-throw percentage marks in ASU history.
• Weldon is currently shooting 93.8 percent (15-for-16) on the season while Freeman is at 89.3 percent (25-for-28). Should Weldon keep up her pace, she would set ASU's single-season free-throw percentage record, currently held by Janel Dalton (89.0 percent - 1987-88).
• Freeman's current pace would put her in the top three depending on where Weldon finishes this season but she could overtake her teammate and set the single season record herself if she continues her solid free-throw shooting.

Keeping the Streak Alive
• Appalachian State has recorded winning streaks of at least six games in each of the past three seasons. The Mountaineers have currently won six-straight this season, won 12 in a row last year and had a season-high seven-game winning streak during the 2009-10 campaign.
• The feat of three-straight seasons with winning streaks of at least six games has only been accomplished two other times in school history (1986-89 and 1993-96).

Home Cookin'
• The Mountaineers have been nearly unstoppable at home the past three seasons. Appalachian State is 24-7 at home in its last 31 home games including a 16-5 mark in Southern Conference games played at the Holmes Center.
