Appalachian State junior forward Anna Freeman has been named as the Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for

the second time this season after helping lead the Mountaineers to two wins to open conference play.
Freeman, who scored 25 points in a 64-45 win over Georgia Southern in the SoCon opener on Dec. 1, averaged 18.5 points per game for the week, shot 50.0 percent from the floor and from beyond the arc and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
She currently leads the SoCon with 16 blocks and is second in scoring at 15.7 points per game. Freeman is second in ASU history in blocks (153) and fifth in steals (201) and needs just 67 more points to become the 21st player in Appalachian State history with 1,000 career points.
Freeman also leads the league in steals (30) and has recorded five-straight games with at least four steals.
The Mountaineers return to action when they travel to UNC Asheville for a 4:30 p.m. matchup on Saturday at the Asheville Collegiate Basketball Invitational.
