The Lees-McRae College men's and women's track & field teams are set to open the 2011-12 season this afternoon, traveling to Appalachian State University's

The meet is slated to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday with the triple jump and weight throw, and will continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. starting with the long jump, pole vault, shot put, high jump, and women's 55m hurdles.
The Bobcats are one of 16 schools competing this weekend, including NCAA Division I programs Western Carolina University, Wofford College, UNC Charlotte, and UNC Asheville.
Lees-McRae returns 14 letter-winners from last year's team, including school-record holders Crystal Bass (Branford, Fla.), Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.), Taryn Moorhead (Deer Park, Wash.), Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.), and Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W.Va.).
