Lenoir-Rhyne University Head Softball Coach Shena Hollar has announced the addition of three student-athletes for the 2013 campaign with the signing of Brandi Hole, Lauren Elder and Ashley Oliver.
Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) is a 1A All-District 5 and a North Carolina 1A All-State pitcher from North Stokes High School. Hole also plays

summer ball for the Carolina Cardinals under Rick McHone.
"Brandi (Hole) is a power left-handed pitcher," said Hollar. "With two-thirds of our pitching staff graduating, Brandi will see lots of time on the mound for us in 2013. I am very excited about the potential that Brandi will bring to our new pitching staff."
Elder (Taylorsville, N.C.) is a 4A All-District 7 and a North Carolina 4A All-State catcher for Alexander Central High School under Head Coach Monte Sherrill. Elder is also part of the 2011 North Carolina 4A State Championship squad and a member of the Carolina Cobras, coached by Charlie Blackwelder.
"Lauren (Elder) is a scrappy catcher," said Hollar. "She has a strong bat and a very good arm behind the plate. Lauren comes from an outstanding high school program. She will bring a tremendous work ethic as well as winning experience due to playing for Coach Monte Sherrill. She will be an asset to our team."
Oliver (Vale, N.C.) plays catcher, third baseman and designated hitter for Fred T. Foard High School under Head Coach Jennifer Cook. Oliver is also a member of the Catawba Valley Storm and is coached by Shane Johnson.
"Ashley (Oliver) is a local player that will bring a lot to our program," said Hollar. "She can play third base, catch and has a good bat for the designated hitter position. She has the potential to contribute to our successful program."
Lenoir-Rhyne finished the 2011 season with a record of 45-10 overall and a 16-2 mark in the South Atlantic Conference. The Bears also won both the league regular season and tournament championships for the second consecutive season last spring.
In addition, L-R made it to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional Tournament for the second straight year in 2011 and finished the season ranked No. 10 in the nation.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens the 2012 campaign on Wednesday, February 8, in a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey beginning at 2 p.m.
