The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Swimming Teams set several more school records Sunday on the final day of the Wingate Fall Frenzy at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center.
The Lenoir-Rhyne women finished ninth overall while the men's squad
took 10th. Gardner-Webb (women) and College of Charleston (men) were the team champions at the event.
For the L-R women, freshman Chelsea Kyle (Knoxville, Tenn.) broke the school record in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.72) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.09) events.
On the Bears' men's squad, freshman Deaton Wright (Southern Pines, N.C.) set a new mark in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.40) and freshman Kyle Hites (Lenoir, N.C.) swam a school-record 1:01.88 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team also set a program record in the 400-yard medley relay (3:42.02).
The teams consisted of Wright, Hites, freshman Jay Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) and junior Alec Reitzel (Hickory, N.C.).
Both Lenoir-Rhyne squads next compete in the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational beginning Thursday, December 15, and running through Sunday, December 18, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Lenoir-Rhyne's next home swimming meet will take place on Saturday, January 7, in against Limestone & Queens at the Shuford Physical Education Center.
