Place-kicker Drew Stewart of the Appalachian State University football team has been named Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
The sophomore from Gastonia, N.C., tied a Southern Conference record and set a new Appalachian State

mark with six field goals in Saturday's win over Western Carolina. Stewart was a perfect 6-for-6 on field goals from 44, 32, 29, 21, 27 and 24 yards.
He also connected on all three of his extra point attempts and finished the game with 21 points, setting a new single-game high for scoring by a kicker in the SoCon.
Other nominees for this honor were Kenton Beal of Elon, Charlie Edwards of Georgia Southern, Alvin Hines II of Samford, Blake Cain of Western Carolina and Casey Redfern of Wofford.
Wide receiver Brian Quick, who became ASU's all-time leading receiver on Saturday against the Catamounts, was a nominee for Offensive Player of the Week honors; Brandon Grier of ASU was a nominee for Defensive Player of the Week; and defensive lineman Ronald Blair of the Mountaineers was a nominee for Freshman of the Week.
ASU wraps up the regular season at Elon on Saturday. Coverage of that game begins at 1 p.m. on AM 1450, WATA.
