|ASU Volleyball Drops Chattanooga In Four|

Appalachian State volleyball completed its season sweep of Southern Conference foe Chattanoogawith a 4-1 victory at Maclellan Gym on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Mountaineers (19-10, 11-4) bounced back from a loss to Western Carolina onTuesday to down the Mocs (5-24, 3-12) for the second time this season.
Appalachian had previously beaten Chattanooga, 3-0, on Sept. 25 in Boone. ASU has now beaten the Mocs three-straight times dating back to the 2010 campaign.
The match featured tight contests in the first three sets before Appalachian pulledaway in dominating fashion to close out he fourth and final set for the win.
Saturday'sfirst set featured 10 ties and six lead changes in a back-and-forth battle that saw the Mocs build a 14-10 lead midway through the set.
TheMountaineers stormed back, reeling off an 8-0 run and forcing Chattanooga tocall two timeouts, to regain the lead at 18-14.
Appalachianlooked as if it would close out the set with relative ease when it built a24-21 lead but the Mocs responded with three straight points to draw even. MaggieSeeds put the set away for ASU with two-straight kills for a 26-24 set win.
The second set saw the lead change hands just three times, all within the first 11 points, before the Black and Gold pushed its lead to four points (12-8) midwaythrough the set. Chattanooga would not come within three points the rest of theway as ASU closed out the set for a 25-20 win.
Despite trailing 2-0 and facing defeat, the Mocs battled back from an early five-pointdeficit (14-9) to take a 24-21 lead. Appalachian State rallied forthree-straight points to tie, but Chattanooga slammed the door shut for a 26-24set victory.
The fourth and final set was all Mountaineers as Appalachian scored the first seven points en route to an easy 25-14 win. The Mocs never came closer than six points during the final set as they dropped their eighth-straight match.
Alison Blasingame led the Mountaineers with 13 kills and six block assists. Anna Wagner posted a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs while KaseySauls finished with a match-high 39 assists.
Courtney Rhein tied Chattanooga's Melissa Green with a match-high 23 digs and Seeds added four block assists to go along with her nine kills.
The Mocs were paced by Christina Teter's 13 kills while Jennifer Kuroski added 10. The Mountaineers hit .200 as a team while Chattanooga was held to just. 115. ASU finished with a 10-7 edge in blocks and had 11 service aces to theMocs' five.
Appalachian State wraps up the 2011 regular season tomorrow with a 2 p.m. match at Samford.The Bulldogs wrapped up the SoCon North Division title with a 3-1 win overWestern Carolina on Saturday.
