LRU Volleyball Begins SAC Tournament Play Friday PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team is back in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament which begins Friday in Harrogate, Tenn.  Lincoln Memorial University will be the host institution.
Lenoir-Rhyne is the fifth seed in the tournament and will take

on fourth-seeded Tusculum in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 2:30 p.m., at Mars Gymnasium.  The Bears are back in the tournament after missing it last year.
L-R is 17-14 on the season and 8-10 in conference play while Tusculum is 17-11 and 10-8, respectively. 
The Pioneers swept the season series from the Bears and holds a 20-12 all-time advantage.  Lenoir-Rhyne will be looking to snap an eight-match losing streak to Tusculum in the process.
Both squads are also ranked in the recent NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll.  Tusculum is sixth while Lenoir-Rhyne is ranked ninth.  The top eight teams earn a berth to the playoffs.
The NCAA Division II Regional Rankings are the official poll used in the Division II Volleyball Championship selection process.  The Southeast Region includes the Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas and the South Atlantic Conference.  Seven teams from the SAC are ranked in the region this week.

Wingate/Carson-Newman winner vs. Tusculum/Lenoir-Rhyne winner, 1:30 p.m.
Catawba/Newberry winner vs. Lincoln Memorial/Mars Hill winner, 4 p.m.
