Wesley Announces Softball’s 2012 Schedule PDF Print

Highlighted by 15 games at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium and showdowns against three Southeastern Conference foes, Appalachian State University softball coach Shae Wesley announced the slate for the Mountaineers’ 2012 campaign on Tuesday.
Coming off a second-place Southern Conference regular season finish

last season, Appalachian will play 15 of its 56 regular-season game in the friendly confines of Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.  The Apps posted a 13-2 home record in 2011 and are 49-34 (.590) since the state-of-the-art facility opened in 2007.
The Black and Gold open its 2012 slate with a weekend trip to Auburn, Ala. for five contests in the Tiger Invitational on February 10.  Auburn earned an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA tournament and posted a 40-19 record and a 23-8 home record last season.
On Feb. 15, the Mountaineers square off with in-state rival Charlotte for a pair of games.  ASU will spend the weekend (Feb. 18-19) in Durham, N.C. where they will play North Carolina Central and a team to be announced for a pair of games each.
The Mountaineers travel to Arkansas for the Arkansas Softball Tournament on Feb. 24.  The Apps play in their third and final regular-season tournament on March 2 at the Spartan Classic hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.
ASU opens its home schedule on March 10 when they open conference play against UNC Greensboro.  The Mountaineers breaks up their conference schedule with a double header at former conference foe ETSU on March 15 and a double-header in Boone against USC Upstate on March 20.
The Apps play their first road conference series on March 17-18 versus Furman and return home for a key series against five-time defending SoCon champion Chattanooga on March 24-25.
The Mountaineers travel to Charleston, S.C. for a weekend series (March 31-April 1) at the College of Charleston, and return to Boone on April 6 for a series with arch-rival Western Carolina.
ASU travels to Elon on April 14 for a weekend series and head to Greensboro for a double header with North Carolina A&T on April 18.
The Apps play their final home series against Georgia Southern on April 21-22. 
The Mountaineers start their final road trip when they face their final SEC foe on April 24 at South Carolina and square off with Tennessee Tech the next day for a double-header in Cookeville, Tenn. ASU ends conference play with a trip to Birmingham for a weekend series (April 28-19) with Samford.
The Black and Gold will host the Southern Conference Tournament on May 9-12 for the first time in school history.
