Three members of the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team were named to the Conference Carolinas all-Academic Team on Monday, announced league officials.
Senior Megan Epperson (St. John, Ind.) earned the honor for the second straight season, while juniors Megan Mitchell (Minden, Nev.) and Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) each

garnered the recognition for the first time in their careers. King College and Erskine College paced the conference with five selections, while Lees-McRae and Limestone College each placed three players on the team.
Epperson is in the midst of a strong season, entering the conference tournament ranked first on the team and fourth in the league with an average of 3.62 kills per set. The senior outside hitter currently holds the program-record in kills (1,425), digs (1,198), service aces (161), and points (1,742.5), and is the only player in school history to record at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.
Mitchell has put together another impressive season this fall, surpassing the program record for career assists, while trailing Epperson's mark in service aces by just 10. The Minden, Nev. Native currently sits at 3,205 assists for her career, needing just 91 helpers to set a new season-best. Mitchell also currently ranks 15th in the nation in service aces per set with an average of 0.63.
Clendenin is in the midst of a career season with the Bobcats, establishing personal-bests in kills (356), kills per set (3.12), hitting percentage (.260), service aces (51), points (433), and points per frame (3.80). The Statesville, N.C. native currently ranks second on the team and seventh in the conference in kills per set (3.12).
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Tuesday when the Bobcats, as the top seed in the West Bracket, host West No. 5 Belmont Abbey College in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament at 6:30 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
