After intercepting four passes in four October games, Appalachian State University defensive back Demetrius McCray (Covington, Ga./Newton) has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Month, the league office announced on Thursday.

His top performance came in last Saturday’s 24-17 win over previously unbeaten and top-ranked Georgia Southern, when he intercepted two passes that led directly to Appalachian touchdowns. In the process, he became only the second Mountaineer in the last two seasons with multiple interceptions in a game.
