Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Ties Tusculum, 1-1, In Home Finale PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (7-8-3, 3-4-2) tied Tusculum College (7-7-3, 6-1-2), 1-1, Sunday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match on Senior Day in the Bears' home finale at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
L-R got on the board just 11:38 into the match when

sophomore midfielder Mehmet Karakilinc (Lanester, FRANCE) scored right in front of the goal after finishing off a shot which hit the post. The goal was Karakilinc's first with the Bears.
The contest remained 1-0 until the 74th minute when Tusculum scored on an own goal after a shot deflected off a Lenoir-Rhyne defender and into the net.
The squads were then held scoreless for the remainder of the second half and two 10-minute periods of overtime.
In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) allowed just one goal to go along with 10 saves in 110 minutes of action.
Tusculum goalkeeper Andy Goellner (Denver, Colo.) gave up just one goal as well while stopping six shots.
The Bears also held a 19-18 advantage in shots taken in notching its second consecutive tie.
Both Lenoir-Rhyne and Tusculum will compete in next week's 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. The first round will take place on Tuesday, November 1, at the higher seeds.
The Pioneers will play at home on Tuesday while the Bears will hit the road in their opening-round match of the tournament.

 

Lenoir-Rhyne Earns Top Seed In The 2011 Food Lion SAC Women's Soccer Tournament

 

Fresh off its unbeaten and untied league regular season, the Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Soccer Team earned the No. 1 seed in the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.
Lenoir-Rhyne will face eighth-seeded Carson-Newman (5-10-1) on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex beginning at 7 p.m.
L-R is 15-1 on the season, 9-0 in conference play and is currently on a school-record 14-match winning streak. The Bears are also ranked No. 5 nationally and second in the recent NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll.
The Bears defeated the Lady Eagles by a 2-1 score earlier this year on September 27 in Jefferson City, Tenn., after falling behind by a goal early in the match.
Lenoir-Rhyne leads the all-time series with Carson-Newman, 14-12-2, while the two teams last squared off in the league tournament in 2009 finals as the Lady Eagles prevailed by a 3-1 score.
L-R is also the No. 1 seed in the Food Lion SAC Women's Soccer Tournament for the second consecutive year.
The semifinals and finals of the conference tournament will take place at Manchester Meadows on Friday, November 4, and Sunday, November 6, in Rock Hill, S.C.

Lenoir-Rhyne To Face Tusculum In The 2011 Food Lion Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals

 

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team has landed as the seventh seed in the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament as the league officials announced the pairings today.
Lenoir-Rhyne (7-8-3, 3-4-1) will face second-seeded Tusculum (7-7-3, 6-1-2) in the quarterfinal round Tuesday on the road in Greeneville, Tenn., beginning at 7 p.m.
L-R and Tusculum battled to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon on the Bears' Senior Day at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
Lenoir-Rhyne has won three conference tournament championships in school history (1992, 2000 and 2006).
The semifinals and finals of the league tournament will take place at Manchester Meadows on Friday, November 4, and Sunday, November 6, in Rock Hill, S.C.
