Blowing Rock Rescue and Foscoe Fire/First Responders and Watauga Rescue spent much of the afternoon reaching a man who fell near the top of Hebron Colony Falls just before 4 yesterday afternoon. The man fell into the water and suffered a shoulder injury, and managed for a time to walk toward help (photos courtesy Blowing Rock Fire/Rescue)
in the direction of Old Turnpike Road, but as it was evident he could not make it out, the rescue groups responded with some 25 personnel and equipment to first carry, then roll the man. With a shorter distance to the top, crews worked their way up the steep, rocky terrain first helping, then carrying the man. At the top, a roller was added to their stokes basket, and the man could be rolled toward the waiting ambulance. Injuries did not appear life threatening, but the effort was not cleared until around 7 last night.
