Junior Kim-Lea Dinh (Maisons-Alfort, France / Lycee Eugene Delacroix) picked up a pair of wins on the weekend, as Appalachian State women’s tennis competed in the UNC Wilmington Halloween Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Dinh teamed up with ASU newcomer Gabby Gabriel (Orlando, Fla. / Lake Howell) to take on Miller Hales and Hamilton Lovett of host UNCW. The Apps picked up 6-3 wins in both sets to earn the doubles victory.
Appalachian’s Ellie Linsell (Southampton, England / Cheam) and Gabriela Celi (Orlando, Fla. / Lake Howell) paired up for a match against Oleysa Palko and Ekaterina Nekrasova of NC Central. The Black and Gold won the first set 7-6 before a 4-6 setback in the second. Ultimately, a 6-3 win of the second set lifted the Apps to their third win of the day.
On Saturday, Appalachian did not fare as well, as the team was unsuccessful in all of its 13 matches on day two.
Appalachian kicks off its spring competition season with a home dual against North Carolina A&T on Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m.
