Huskies Finish Strong PDF Print

The Ashe County football team closed out the season with a convincing victory Friday night on Senior Night.
The Huskies (6-5 overall; 5-3 Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference) blasted East Wilkes 35-6 at Huskies Stadium and produced their first winning season since 2008. Sam Gammons threw

four touchdown passes to pace the offense. Matthew Sexton and Eli Gambill each caught two touchdown passes.
The Huskies, who won four of their last five games, finish in fourth place overall, but they are the No.3 seed among the Class 2A schools in the league. Starmount won the league title Friday night with a 24-17 win against Wilkes Central in a battle of unbeaten teams.
