Watauga High Athletics Director Tom Wright has announced that Saturday's Class 4A Sectional championship game between the Pioneers and Hough will tip-off officially at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Lentz-Eggers Gym.
The Pioneers (21-7), are

making their second-straight appearance in the sectional finals. They lost to Lake Norman in the sectional title game at Lentz-Eggers Gym. The Pioneers have won a season-best seven in a row.
Hough (25-3), the No.1 seed from the I-Meck Conference, advanced to the finals by defeating McDowell 3-1 in Marion Thursday night. The Huskies defeated WHS in a tri-match down in Charlotte on October 8. The Pioneers haven't lost since that tri-match. And WHS defeated Hough in the sectional semifinals in three games last season.
The winner of this match will play either Providence (the No.1 seed from the Southwestern 4A Conference) or Northwest Guilford (the No.1 seed from the Metro 4A Conference) Tuesday in the Western Regional championship game Tuesday, November 1. The state finals will be played at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh next Saturday, November 5.
The Pioneers haven't been to the regional finals since 1998.
