ASU Women’s Tennis Schedule Announced PDF Print

Appalachian State women’s tennis coach Colin Crothers announced his 2012 competition schedule on Thursday. The slate features 23 matches include 11 home competitions.
The Apps begin competition in January

with the season opener at home on Jan. 21 against North Carolina A&T. The Black and Gold travel to No. 58 Virginia Tech on February 4 to face their only opponent ranked in last season’s final poll.
The Southern Conference campaign begins with a visit to College of Charleston on March 11, while the first home league opponent is UNCG on March 28.
The season concludes at the 2012 Southern Conference Tournament being held in Charleston, S.C., April 19-22.
Appalachian State women’s tennis finished the 2011 spring season with 11 wins, the program’s most victories since 2006. In the SoCon Tournament, the Mountaineers defeated Wofford, four to three in the first round, to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2008.
Eight upperclassmen return to compete on this year’s squad, including seniors Blakeley Bean (Alpharetta, Ga./South Forsyth), Gisela Fernandez (Guadalajara, Mexico/TEC Monterrey), Kim-Lea Dinh (Maisons-Alfort, France/Lycee Eugene Delacroix) and Christina Calott (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell). Junior Ellie Linsell (Southampton, England/Cheam) also returns after posting a team-best record of 13 wins and 7 losses while playing at the number one singles position.
The Mountaineers conclude their autumn tournament season this weekend at the UNC Wilmington Fall Invitational. Action takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29.
