226 New River Employees Offered Daymark Jobs PDF Print

There may be some confusion in the transfer of services from New River Behavioral Healthcare to Salisbury-based Daymark Recovery Services. At the meeting of the New River board Tuesday, direct service employees of New River were terminated effective the end of business Monday, October 31st. It was announced at that meeting that Daymark will begin offering services in the five-county service area November 1st, but Daymark CEO Billy West told the Wilkes Journal-Patriot yesterday that, as of yesterday, 226 New River employees were being offered employment, but alluded to the initial November 15th date to start services.  Just how Daymark will operate is still being formulated, according to West, who at the end of Tuesday’s marathon executive session, was offered former New River facilities at a $3 per square foot lease rate in all counties except Watauga. Watauga County owns the building New River is in here, and details of the potential occupancy of that will come next Tuesday—November 1st—as Watauga commissioners meet. In all the new service area, just what facilities Daymark may take of those currently used by New River remains to be seen, as some amount of time will be needed for the logistics of start-up in any location.
