Zap Fitness Produces Six Olympic Qualifiers PDF Print

Zap Fitness in Blowing Rock will have six qualifiers competing at the Olympic Trials in Houston, TX., on January 14.
There are four men and two women competing for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team. Joe Driscoll, who has been with Zap Fitness

for nine years, Jesse Cherry in only his second year with Zap Fitness, Chris Clark and David Jankowski will be vying for spots on the men's team; Ester Erb and Alisa McKaig are the women qualifiers.
McKaig made the World Cross Country Team in Punta Umbria, Spain on March 20, where she was 28th in the Women's Senior Race and completed the course in 26:46; she also made the World Marathon Team in Daegu, South Korea on August 27. She was 32nd in that event.
Sarah Porter,  a newcomer with Zap Fitness and the Division II women's national champion in track and cross country from Western Washington University in 2010-11, competed in the U.S. Road Runner Championships in Minneapolis, MN., on October 15. She finished fifth in the field and completed the course in 55:01. It was her first professional race, and she has earned a spot in the New York City Marathon on November 6.
