Que Tucker, Deputy Comissioner of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, has announced that Freedom High School will not be allowed to participate in the state football playoffs this fall.
The reason, because five players

were ejected for fighting during last Friday night's game against Chase. Under NCHSAA rules, if a team has three players ejected for fighting during a game, or if a team has six players disqualified for any reason during the course of the season, it will not be allowed to participate in the state playoffs.
Tucker also said that the NCHSAA rule regarding leaving the bench during a fight is clear, and that players are ejected whether or not they make contact with anyone when they run onto the field. The Patriots (9-1; 4-1 in the South Mountain 2A/3A Athletic Conference) are ranked eighth in the state in Class 3A. They close out the season at Patton Friday night.
