The Southern Conference has announced that Travaris Cadet of Appalachian State University is the Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Cadet, a senior from Miami, Fla.,

had 258 all-purpose yards, including 139 rushing yards, as the Mountaineers (5-2 overall; 3-1 SoCon) defeated Samford, 35-17 Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.  Cadet returned three kickoffs for 79 yards and was a factor returning punts as well.
Early in the third quarter, the senior returned a punt 37 yards to the Bulldogs' 44-yard line which set up a Jamal Jackson touchdown pass to extend ASU's lead to 28-10.
Cadet is the second ASU player to win Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Punter/kicker Sam Martin has won the award twice this season---September 5 and 19. Jeremy Kimbrough was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week September 26.
The Mountaineers take on No.1 Georgia Southern Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The last time Georgia Southern came to town ranked No.1 was in 1999, and the Mountaineers pulled off the upset win, 17-16. The Eagles turned the ball over four times in that game.
