The Watauga Community Band is teaming up with the Watauga Humane Society for a band concert today to benefit the animal shelter.  The 3pm concert will be under the direction of William R. Winkler III at Rosen Concert Hall on the ASU campus.  Members of the Watauga Humane Society will be there to take donations, with 100% of the money collected going to the organization, which just opened a new shelter just off Old US 421.  With the tie-in to the Humane Society, the band has on its program, "Whistler and His Dog," which should prove appropriate for the event.  Other features include a great selection of concert pieces and marches, with the band not only playing but singing to two of the pieces.

Next up for the Watauga Community Band will be the Veteran's Day Celebration at Boone Mall, Friday, November 11th, with music beginning about 10am, the ceremony, put on by the Retired Military Officers Association, at 11.  This Tuesday evening, the band begins rehearsal for their Christmas season music, and anyone who can play is invited to join in by coming to the rehearsals in the main rehearsal room, Spencer Rehearsal Hall in the Hayes School of Music on the ASU campus, 7:30pm.
