LRU's Green Named SAC Special Teams/Defensive Player Of The Week PDF Print

Lenoir-Rhyne University sophomore Michael Green (Kingsland, Ga.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Special Teams and Defensive Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.

Green, a defensive back and return specialist, led the Bears with a game-high nine tackles including eight solo and helped L-R limit Brevard to just 211 yards of total offense in a 33-27 triple overtime victory last Saturday on Homecoming.
The Tornados ran for just 106 yards on the day after coming into the contest averaging 265.2 yards on the ground.
On special teams, Green also returned a punt 53 yards for a score in the second quarter and added a 39-yard punt return in the third quarter. All told, Green returned six punts for a total of 114 yards.
Green currently ranks second on the squad in tackles with 33 to go along with a team-high two picks. Green is also third in the conference in punt return average (13.8 yards per return).
Mars Hill's Jon Richt has been named the South Atlantic Conference Football Offensive Player Of The Week.
Lenoir-Rhyne (3-2, 2-0) travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum (1-5, 0-3) in a South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. Our coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. on KICKS COUNTRY 103 FM.
