Well, the Appalachian State University football team moved up a notch in the national polls this week without playing a game last weekend.

ASU (3-2 overall; 1-1 in the Southern Conference), who plays at The Citadel Saturday following its bye week, is currently ranked seventh in The Sports Network Fathead Top 25 and FCS Coaches Polls. Georgia Southern remains No.1 in the country for the third consecutive week, despite a huge scare by Chattanooga on Saturday.
Trailing 28-27, UTC coach Russ Huesman gambled and went for two, but the Eagles dropped backup quarterback Terrell Robinson, a red-shirt freshman who was playing for the injuried B.J> Coleman, for a loss on the play. The Eagles (5-0; 4-0 in the SoCon) received 132 first-place votes in the TSN Poll and 26 first-place votes in the Coaches Poll. The Eagles entertain Furman in Statesboro on Saturday.
Northern Iowa, (24 first-place votes), Montana State (two first-place votes), North Dakota State (six first-place votes) and Wofford, which received two first-place votes, round out the top five in TSN Poll. Northern Iowa (two first-place votes), Montana State, Wofford and North Dakota State round out the top five in the Coaches Poll. Chattanooga (2-4; 0-3 SoCon) dropped out of both polls.
The Mountaineers and The Citadel kick-off at 2 p.m. Saturday. Our coverage begins at 12 noon on AM, 1450 WATA.
