In its first-ever triple overtime game in school history, Lenoir-Rhyne (3-2, 2-0) prevailed over Brevard (2-4, 1-3), 33-27, Saturday afternoon in front of 8,047 fans at Moretz Stadium in a South Atlantic Conference contest.

Senior quarterback Major Herron (Kingsland, Ga.) scored the game-winning touchdown from 25 yards out in the third overtime for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne also won its first homecoming contest since the 2004 season, a 31-26 victory over Wingate.
Herron led the Bears with 93 yards on the ground and scored twice while sophomore defensive back Michael Green (Kingsland, Ga.) returned a punt 53 yards for a score and added a team-high nine tackles as L-R remained unbeaten in league play.
Herron scored from one yard out on the game's opening drive while Green's punt return for a touchdown staked the Bears to a 14-0 advantage midway through the second quarter.
After Brevard hit a field goal to cut the margin to 14-3 at intermission, the Tornados scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 17-14 advantage.
Brevard quarterback Aaron Reese (Bradenton, Fla.) ran it in on a one-yard quarterback sneak before defensive back Michael Gist (North Augusta, Ga.) returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdown.
L-R forced overtime when senior placekicker Colin Corpe (Ocala, Fla.) connected on a 25-yard field goal with 3:35 left in the fourth quarter.
The two squads traded field goals in the first overtime and touchdowns in the second overtime before Herron clinched the game with his tackle-breaking 25-yard touchdown run.
In the second overtime, L-R freshman running back Chris Robinson (Newnan, Ga.) and Brevard halfback Kelvin Jeter (Gastonia, N.C.) scored rushing touchdowns of 15 yards and one yard, respectively, to force the third overtime.
Reese led Brevard in passing yards (105) and rushing yards (45) while wideout Eric Watts (Powhatan, Va.) added eight catches for 79 yards despite the loss.
On defense, Tornado linebacker Prince Simunyu (Wake Forest, N.C.) led all tacklers with 13 takedowns.
L-R redshirt freshman fullback Isaiah Whitaker (Salisbury, N.C.) added 74 yards rushing as the Bears finished with 251 yards on the ground while limiting the Tornados to just 106 rushing.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum next Saturday in a league contest beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Brevard hosts North Greenville on Saturday, October 22, at 2 p.m.
