A woman was airlifted after her pickup slammed into the side of a truck at Bamboo Road and US 421.  The crash just before 8am snarled traffic as Boone Fire and Boone Police—stepping in for the state patrol—worked the scene while Watauga Medics rushed the woman to the helipad at Watauga Medical Center.
