The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team is ranked eighth in the nation in scoring offense and is listed in 10 individual and team categories, announced NCAA officials Tuesday with the release of this week's NCAA Division II women's soccer statistics.Lees-McRae (6-2-1, 5-0 Conference Carolinas) has enjoyed a tremendous start to the conference season, outscoring its opponents by a 28-2 margin through its first five matches to vault to eighth in the nation in scoring offense (3.22). The Bobcats are also ranked 15th in shutout percentage (0.667), and 41st in both goals against average (0.759) and winning percentage (0.722).
Senior forward Vickie Rich (Arlington Heights, Ill.) is ranked 14th in the nation in match-winning goals (three), 24th in both total assists (five) and helpers per match (0.56), and 93rd in points per contest (1.44). Sophomore MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.) is also ranked 38th in goals per match (0.778) and 45th in points per contest (1.78).
Freshman Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) enters the week listed 61st in goals per match (0.667) and 70th in points per contest (1.56), while rookie goalkeeper Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) is ranked 39th in goals against average (0.73).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Thursday when the Bobcats travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Converse College in conference play at 7 p.m.
