Lenoir-Rhyne senior Katie Thackerson (Earl, N.C.) shot a 75 (+3) and is currently tied for second after the first round Monday of the Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Links. The tournament is hosted by L-R and Lincoln Memorial.Lenoir-Rhyne, as a team, shot a 340 (+52) on the par-72, 5,988-yard course and is in 14th place while Tusculum leads the women's tournament after 18 holes with a 307 (+19).
The Pioneers' Emee Herbert is the top individual after 18 holes as she carded a 73 (+1).
Lenoir-Rhyne junior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.) is tied for 30th with a nine-over 81.
On the men's side, Lenoir-Rhyne is 11th with a 300 (+12) on the par-72, 6,761-yard course while Wingate sits in first with a four-under 284 after the first round of play.
St. Andrews' Matthew Latham is currently in first place after firing a four-under 68 for the first round. Freshman Zach Burket (Taylorsville, N.C.) is the top Bears' golfer so far. Burket shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 15th overall.
Sophomore John White (Granite Falls, N.C.) and junior Brandon Squier (Advance, N.C.) are tied for 38th overall with a 75 (+3) for the Bears. The final round takes place on Tuesday.
