Hendersonville Flattens Vikings PDF Print

The woes continue on defense for the Avery High football team. The Vikings (4-3 overall; 1-2 Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference) were bested by Hendersonville 48-28 Friday night in a WHC game. The Vikings have given up 220 points in seven games. That's an average of 31 points a game.
Quarterback Alex Villanueva paced the Vikings with 243 yards in the loss----136 through the air and 107 on the ground. He also scored on a 16-yard run in the first quarter. The Vikings fell behind early. They trailed 21-7 at the first-quarter break, and 28-14 at the intermission.

The Bearcats ran for 425 yards and they had 423 yards on the ground, and 566 yards offensively.
Shawn Rogers ran for 170 yards and scored twice for the Bearcats (6-1; 3-0); A.J. McMinn ran for 96 yards and scored three times. The Vikings return home to play Polk County next Friday night. Mitchell defeated Polk County 28-27 Friday night.
