Appalachian State softball head coach Shae Wesley has announced the fall slate for the 2011 exhibition season.  The Mountaineers will play eight games on four dates and all contest are away from Boone because of the ongoing renovations to Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.

Appalachian start its fall season in Charlotte, N.C. on October 2 when they will take on Wingate at 11 a.m. and UNC Charlotte at 1 p.m.
The Mountaineers will play a pair of games in Morristown, Tenn. against Walters State Community College starting at 12 p.m and a team to be named at 2 p.m. on Oct. 8.  On Oct. 9, ASU will play a pair of games in Hickory, N.C. against host Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m. and Patrick Henry Community College at 3 p.m.
The Black and Gold round out its fall campaign with a double-header at South Carolina on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
The Mountaineers are returning seven letter-winners, including first team all-SoCon outfielder Allie Cashion and first team all-SoCon utility player, Meghan Smith from their second-place regular season finish last season.  Cashion batted a .345 average with a team best 46 RBI and 14 doubles.  Smith led the team with a .359 batting average and was ranked second with 41 RBI.
ASU will lose the services of second-team all-conference pitcher Hannah Dow and second-team all-SoCon third baseman Katie Boyd.  Dow led the pitching staff with 13 wins, a 1.81 earned run average and 70 strikeouts. Boyd became the first Mountaineer in school history to earn all-SoCon accolades in all four seasons of competition.  She holds eight career records and numerous single-game and season records.
