In a contest of two of the top NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Teams, third-ranked Florida Tech (4-0) prevailed over No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne (1-1) by a 2-1 score Friday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

The Panthers remained undefeated on the season thanks to goals by Kelly Whittaker (Coopersburg, Pa.) and Carly Hunt (Merritt Island, Fla.).
Whittaker tallied a goal two minutes before intermission when she picked up the ball off a corner kick and lobbed a shot over the Bears' goalkeeper for the score.
Hunt made it 2-0 in the 84th minute when she scored from the right side after one-touching the ball in the box and connecting on the goal.
Lenoir-Rhyne's lone goal of the match came with just 4:38 remaining which cut the margin in half on a penalty kick by senior All-American midfielder Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.) but Florida Tech was able to hold on for the win.
L-R also snapped a nine-game winning streak at home dating back to 2009 and lost for the first time since October 23, 2010, a span of 10 contests.
Florida Tech's Mist Eliasdottir (Keflavik, ICELAND) picked up the win in goal after allowing just one score and making eight saves while Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) suffered the loss. Scruggs tallied five saves in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Misenheimer, N.C., to face Pfeiffer Monday at 4 p.m. Florida Tech visits Catawba on Sunday for a match beginning at Noon.
