Head coach Laura Foster has finally been rewarded for a job well done.

A young coach, who took over a struggling program in its early years, Foster has turned the Ashe County High women's basketball team into a powerhouse program. And her record speaks for itself.
Since comning to West Jefferson in 2003 from Wilkes Central, Foster has racked up 196 wins, three Mountain Valley Conference championships (2008-2011), and back-to-back MVC tournament championships (2009-10). Her teams have also produced 20 wins or more in each of the last five years.
And for her efforts, Foster has been named head coach of the West All-Stars in the annual East-West Senior All-Star Game in Greensboro, July 16 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. Mallary Clay, who is currently a freshman at Catawba College (a Division II school from the South Atlantic Conference), played in the East-West All-Star Game last July.
