The Cleveland Browns released eight players on Sunday. Among those they released was defensive lineman and former Appalachian State Mountaineer Jabari Fletcher. It's the second time Fletcher has been released this season. He was released by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League on July 4.
Fletcher was an All-America for the Mountaineers last season. He was also earned Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on two occasions, and he was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Month for October.
Fletcher finished his collegiate career with 22 quarterback sacks and 44.5 tackles-for-loss. He is one of only seven players in ASU history to register 20 sacks and 40 tackles for loss in a career.

D.J. Smith turned in a pretty good night's work for the Green Bay Packers Saturday night against the Indianapolis Colts saturday night.
Smith had three tackles and a quarterback sack in Saturday's game. Smith led the Southern Conference and ranked fifth nationally with 144 total tackles in 2010. He also recorded four-and-a-half tackles for loss, two sacks, five quarterback hurries, four pass break-ups, an interception and a fumble recovery and finished his career with 525 tackles, the most among all Division I active players (FCS or FBS) last fall.
His 525 career stops rank fourth in SoCon history and he is only the second player in ASU history to surpass the 500-tackle plateau, joining three-time AP All-American Dexter Coakley, who was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in July.
