High Country Gears Up To Help Hurricane Victims PDF Print

High Country resources are staging down east, waiting for the arrival of hurricane Irene.  Watauga Rescue has sent equipment and members to be a part of the teams of rescuers from across the state, ready to deploy to where the storm hits hardest.  Members will be sending pictures and information when they can,

like the shot of their truck, stopped at a refueling area, Greg Miller saying that they are making their way in a convoy to the staging areas.
Meanwhile, Samaritan's Purse is preparing their disaster relief teams, ready to roll with big rigs and pick-up trucks loaded with supplies and
equipment to respond where help is needed most. "We have two of our Disaster Relief Units ready to roll as soon as we see where Irene hits," said disaster relief manager Tim Haas, who has been working with Samaritan's Purse staff to load trucks at the organization's warehouse in North Wilkesboro, N.C. "These units are tractor-trailers that we have stocked full of emergency supplies and tools, and they will function on-site as our operations center for staff and volunteers."
